Courtney Diener, MSW, Supervisee in Social Work
Hello! My name is Courtney, and I am social work supervisee in the state of Virginia. I approach all therapy with an understanding of the ways our childhood, the environment around us, and the systems we live in impact our mental health and who we are as people. I use a strengths-based and client-centered approach that centers compassion and a deep respect for the therapeutic relationship as a powerful tool in growing in healing and recovery.
I have over nine years of experience supporting survivors of child abuse, dating and domestic violence, and other forms of trauma. My work as a survivor advocate has grown a foundation in which I ground my therapy practice in a way that centers consent, empowerment, choice, and agency within our work together.
In addition, I have spent many years working on college campuses and I am passionate about supporting high school and college students as they navigate and grow into adulthood. I have experience facilitating support for college students of various ages in recovery around trauma, substance use recovery, compulsive exercise, self-harm, and eating disorders.
As a therapist, my work centers harm reduction, neurodiversity affirming support, trauma-informed care, sex positivity, and a Health at Every Size anti-diet approach.
